In 2016/17 MY Ukraine exported a record 43.8 million tons of grain

According to preliminary estimates, in 2016/17 MY, which ended June 30 2017, Ukraine exported 43.8 million tons of grain, which is an absolute record for the country.

This is reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy press service.

"Last year's record harvest of 66 million tons formed the export resource at the level of 43.8 million tons, which is the historical maximum for Ukraine. Positive dynamics was also evident in the record export of flour at 369.4 thousand tons, which indicates a gradual reorientation of exporters for deliveries of products with higher added value", said Maxim Martynyuk, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

According to him, stimulating domestic processing will not only increase the foreign currency earnings, but also eliminate the risks inherent in commodity exports, in particular, dependence on world price fluctuations for agricultural products.

Here is to remind that in 2016 Ukraine increased the production of grain and leguminous crops to 66 million tons.
