Forecast for corn production in Ukraine in 2017/18 MY is increased to 27 million tons

In Ukraine in 2017/18 MY, the gross harvest of corn will amount to 27.1 million tons, which is 3% less than in 2016/17 MY.

This is reported by APK-Inform.

In the next season, domestic consumption of corn is expected to increase by 5% to 7.8 million tons, while export potential will decrease by 10% to 19.2 million tons.

It is also noted that the carry-over stocks of corn in the last 2 seasons have declined significantly, which in turn will support prices for the crop. At the moment, domestic grain prices are declining due to the arrival of a new crop on the corn market.

According to the joint project of Latifundist.com and AGCO Harvest Online 2017, as of September 22, 2017 in Ukraine, the corn yield amounted to 1.2 million tons, with a productivity of 4.38 tons/ha (2016 — 4.79 t/ha).
