Mriya to launch a starch factory in 2019

In 2019, Mriya Agroholding plans to launch a starch factory in Ternopil region with a processing capacity of 600 tons of potatoes per day, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"The company has its own starch factory. We intend to increase the area under potatoes next year to 2 thou. hectares and we want to focus on starch varieties. In 2019, we plan to put this plant into operation," Andrei Grigorov, COO of Mriya, comments.

He notes that this year Mriya produces potatoes on 630 hectares, but it is planned to increase the area by more than 3 times.

"Even with 2 thou. hectares under the crop, the plant will be underloaded, so we are looking at the future option of attracting additional potatoes from the market. Now this question is at the business model level," comments Andrei Grigorov.

It is informed that significant capital investments for the start-up of the plant are not required.

"We have a rather modern starch plant. It was built several years ago, and it is in working order," the company representative says.

Previously it was reported that the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) had authorized the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the acquisition of three elevators of Mriya Agroholding.
