Corn export supplies in 8M 2017/18 dropped 14.5%

Over 8M of MY2017/18 (September-April), corn exports decreased 14.5% as compared to the corresponding period of MY2016/17, UkrAgroConsult informs.

Ukraine in April this season delivered to foreign markets 2.3 million tons of corn, which is 6.3% less than in March, but 17.3% more than in April 2017.

In MY 2017/18, export of corn to Egypt declined by 24%, to the EU — by 2%.

The increase in deliveries from Brazil and Argentina in the Asian direction resulted in the decrease in the supply of corn to Iran and South Korea.

In September-April of MY2017/18, Iran exported 0,3 thou. tons of the Ukrainian produce, last season — 641,2 thou. tons.

In the current marketing year, corn from Ukraine was not delivered to such large consumers as South Africa, Japan, and Vietnam.

Export deliveries to China grew sixfold, to Turkey — 21 times. Israeli imports of Ukrainian corn also increased.

It is noted that corn stocks in Ukraine as of May 1 amounted to 6.13 million tons, which is 5.8% less than last year (6.50 million tons).

Reference: in the period from 19 to 25 May, 407 thou. tons of main grain crops were exported from Ukrainian ports, which is 23% less than the indicator a week earlier (529 thou. tons).
