Grains harvesting campaign to cover the remaining 16% of areas

As of October 17, 2018, the Ukrainian agrarians harvested 15.3 million tons of corn from the area of 2.3 million hectares (51%) with the productivity of 6.54 tons/ha. In total, grains and legumes are harvested from 12.5 million hectares (84%). The yield amounts to 50.3 million tons and the productivity — 4.03 tons/hectare.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports the following yields:

  • early grain and leguminous crops — 34.3 million tons from 9.9 million hectares with a productivity of 3.48 tons/ha;
  • buckwheat — 125 thou. tons from 102 thou. hectares (94%) with a productivity of 1.23 tons/ha;
  • millet — 74 thou. tons from 48 thou. hectares (91%) with a productivity of 1.54 tons/ha.

Harvesting of industrial crops has reached the following results:

  • sunflower — 12.2 million tons from 5.5 million hectares (91%) with a productivity of 2.22 tons/ha;
  • soybean — 3.4 million tons from 1.3 million hectares (79%) with a productivity of 2.53 tons/ha;
  • rapeseed — 2.7 million tons from 1 million hectares with a productivity of 2.61 tons/ha;
  • sugar beet — 7.2 million tons from 149 thou. hectares (53%) with a productivity of 48.3 tons/ha.

Reference: by October 16, 2018, winter grain crops have been planted on the area of 6.4 million hectares, or 89% of the total of 7.2 million hectares.
