Three holdings-exporters of sugar hold 70% of the market

The three largest holdings-exporters of sugar in Ukraine hold 70% of the market.

The top 10 exporters of sugar in 2017/18 are as follows:

  1. Radekhiv Sugar (Pfeifer & Langen) — a 24.6% market share, 138.5 thou. tons of exports;
  2. Tsukoragroprom (Astarta-Kyiv) — 16.5%, 93 thou. tons;
  3. the FC Podillya (Ukrprominvest Agro) — 14.3%, 80.4 thou. tons;
  4. Teofipol Sugar Plant (Ukraine-2001) — 6.3%, 35.5 thou. tons;
  5. Novoorzhytsky Sugar Refinery (Astarta-Kyiv) — 6.2%, 34.9 thou. tons;
  6. the FC Zoria Podillya (Ukrprominvest Agro) — 6%, 34.1 thou. tons;
  7. Elite Railways — 2.7%, 15.4 thou. tons;
  8. Novoivanivsky Sugar Plant (Astarta-Kyiv) — 2.6%, 14.4 thou. tons;
  9. Novomyrgorodsky Sugar (I&U Group) — 2%, 11.2 thou. tons;
  10. ED&F Man Ukraine — 1,6%, 8.9 thou. tons.

“Sugar export market in MY2017/18 was almost completely divided between the participants of the TOP-10 rating, and at the holding level — between 7 companies. They account for about 84% of the market,” the message says.

In 2017/2018 season (September 2017 – August 2018), Ukrainian companies exported 564 thou. tons of sugar.
