Ukraine to export 150 thou. tons of organic grains and oilseeds in 2018

In January-August 2018, more than 100 thou. tons of organic grains, oilseeds and peas were exported from Ukraine. This was informed by the agency analyst Tatiana Druz within the framework of Fat-and-Oil Industry-2018 conference in Kyiv, APK-Inform writes.

“If the annual dynamics is observed, the volume of export deliveries of this produce according to the results of the current calendar year should amount to about 150 thou. tons, of which 115 thou. tons will be covered by grains and 35 thou. tons — by oilseeds,” she commented.

Also, the analyst added that, according to the certification authority, in 2018 in Ukraine, organic certification of several enterprises was cancelled, which led to a decrease in the area under organic grain crops, and a reduction in the volume of their exports.

“Therefore, one should not assume that the reduction in the volume of shipments of organic agricultural products from Ukraine is a result of a declining demand. The demand for healthy food in the world, as well as organic grains and oilseeds as its basis, remains quite high,” added Tatiana Druz.

Earlier it was reported that there are 550 registered operators of organic production in Ukraine, 300 of which are agricultural producers.
