Astarta-Kyiv focused on grain crops and sugar beet production in 2019

The agro-industrial holding Astarta-Kyiv started planting campaign on March 20th, and by April 3rd has already sowed 18 thou. hectares of sugar beet or 50% of the planned areas.

Farming units in the Western parts of Ukraine have also started sunflower planting campaign, 2 thou. hectares are already planted.

Corn, wheat and sugar beet are the key crops in the current crop rotation. By the company's information, the planting campaign is running smoothly as all necessary preparation works have been performed carefully and timely.

"We started field works with a new comprehensive digital approach. Our IT-platform "Agrі Management" is an integrated online system for planning, accounting and analyzing farming operations all over Astarta’s business units. Another digital tool to implement is WMS (Warehouse Management System), aimed at improving the control over the logistics processes and usage of materials. We believe that putting this software in operation will significantly increase the efficiency of the company's agricultural segment," comments Zeljko Erceg, COO of Astarta-Kyiv.

As previously reported, ten Ukrainian soybean oil producers provide 80 pct of the output. Astarta-Kyiv is one of those.
