Sowing Online 2018/19: sugar beet planting 90 pct complete

As of May 14th, sugar beet planting in Ukraine is completed on 218 thou. hectares or 89 pct of the areas (2018: 276 thou. hectares). Early spring grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine are sown on an area of 6 million hectares, or 83 pct of the projected areas.

By the data of the Sowing Online 2018/19 Projectthe sown areas by the spring crops are as follows:

  • early grains — 2.1 million hectares (96 pct);
  • buckwheat — 10 thou. hectares (11 pct);
  • millet — 23 thou. hectares (40 pct);
  • corn — 3.8 million hectares (81 pct);
  • sunflower — 4.6 million hectares (80 pct);
  • soybean — 909 thou. hectares (50 pct).
