India intensified Ukrainian sunflower oil imports

In March of the current year, Ukraine exported the highest volume of sunflower oil to India since the start of the 2018/19 season — 285 thou. tons, the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

In September-March 2018/19, India imported almost 1.5 million tons of Ukrainian sunflower oil, 5 per cent more from the corresponding period last season.

"Currently, Argentinian products compete with Ukrainian sunflower oil on the Indian market due to the growth in its supply and a discount in the price of USD 30 per ton," the report indicates.

By the analysts of the Sunvin Group (Mumbai), in April-August, India’s import demand for sunflower oil should reach 1.1-1.3 million tons regardless of the countries of origin. At the same time, while Argentina is offering cheaper products, India will actively contract it.

In the current season, India imported about 100 thou. tons of Ukrainian corn with the import duty of 60 per cent.
