Russia dominated mineral fertilizers supply to Ukraine, Fiscal Service data

In January-May 2019, Russia supplied Ukraine with 314.48 thou. tons of fertilizers (nitrogen, phosphate, potash and multiple nutrients N, P, K), the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine reports.

The three major exporters of mineral fertilizers in the reporting period are as follows:

  1. Russia — 314.48 thou. tons;
  2. Poland — 223.79 thou. tons;
  3. Belarus — 212.24 thou. tons.

The main suppliers of mineral or chemical and nitrogen fertilizers to Ukraine in the reporting period are the following:

  • Bulgaria — 157.7 thou. tons worth USD 38,6 million (14.86% of supplies);
  • Poland — 135.2 thou. tons,  USD 33,1 million (12.74%);
  • Turkey — 134.9 thou. tons, USD 33 million (12.71%);
  • other countries — 633.5 thou. tons, USD 155 million (59.68%).

Ukraine exported nitrogen fertilizers to Turkey (USD 7.2 million), Romania (USD 5.9 million), Mauritania (USD 2.6 million), and other countries (USD 9.4 million).

The main exporters of mineral or chemical, phosphate fertilizers to Ukraine over five months are as follows:

  • Poland — 23.7 thou. tons worth USD 4,7 million (91.52% of supplies);
  • Russia — 1.4 thou. tons, USD 288 thou. (5.54%);
  • Spain — 0.76 thou. tons, USD 153 thou. (2.94%).

No phosphate fertilizers were supplied from Ukraine in the first five months of 2019.

In January-May, mineral or chemical and potash fertilizers exporters to Ukraine are as follows:

  • Belarus — 19.09 thou. tons, USD 5,6 million (66.31%);
  • Russia — 1.7 thou. tons, USD 949 thou. (11.17%);
  • Turkey — 3.2 thou. tons, USD 501 thou. (5.9%);
  • other countries — 4.79 thou. tons, USD 1,4 million (16.63%).

Ukraine exported potash fertilizers to Lithuania (USD 175 thou.), Germany (USD 57 thou.), Russia (USD 19 thou.) and other countries (USD 30 thou.).

The key countries-suppliers of fertilizers to Ukraine with multiple nutrients N, P, K are the following:

  • Russia — 309.82 thou. tons, USD 129,5 million (36.91%);
  • Belarus — 193.15 thou. tons, USD 80,8 million (23.01%);
  • Poland — 64.8 thou. tons, USD 27,09 million (7.72%);
  • others — 271.55 thou. tons, USD 113,5 million (32.35%).

Ukrainian fertilizers with 2-3 nutrients N, P, K; goods of group 31 in packages with a gross weight not more than 10 kg were exported to Kazakhstan (USD 1,1 million), Russia (USD 679 thou.), Moldova (USD 590 thou.), other countries (USD 972 thou.).

Previously reported that the Ukrainian Government included fertilizers in the list of goods banned for import into Ukraine from Russia. The Regulation comes into force on July 1st, 2019.
