US winter wheat harvesting 70 pct complete — USDA

As of July 22nd, 2019, winter wheat harvesting in the United States was carried out on 69% of the area, 12.7% lower from 2018 crop progress —  79% at the corresponding date in 2018, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports.

However, this indicator is 21% higher compared to the previous week's 57%.

The USDA in its weekly Crop Progress report indicated that the condition of spring wheat crops in the United States by the reporting date did not change significantly compared to 2018.

As of July 22nd, the condition of spring wheat crops was as followed:

  • excellent — 13% of crops vs 14% in 2018;
  • good — 63% vs 65%;
  • fair — 20% vs 17%;
  • poor — 4% vs 3%.

By July 22nd, harvesting of early grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine was carried out on the area of 6.6 million hectares or 68%. The crop reached 23.5 million tons.
