Grain shipment in Ukrainian seaports down 7% within Sep 14–20

In the period of September 14–20, grain shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 924 thou. t, 7% down from the previous week (997 thou. t on the basis of updated data), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

In the reporting period, the volume of wheat exports slightly increased and totalled 836 thou. t against 662 thou. t a week earlier, while the export of corn increased 2x up to 14 thou. t (7 thou. t a week earlier). At the same time, barley shipments dropped significantly from 327 thou. t to 73 thou. t.

The top-3 importers of grain in the reporting period are Turkey (300 thou. tons), Egypt (206 thou. tons) and Greece (65 thou. tons).

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (4.2 mln t). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 2.7 mln t, and Chernomorsk — 2.4 mln t.

Wheat exports from Ukraine in the period of January-August 2019 reached 9.89 mln t. The supplies' value is estimated at USD 1.87 bln.
