Bunge sustained a USD 1.23 bln loss in 9M 2019

In 9M 2019 (nine months ended September 30), Bunge received a USD 1.23 bln net loss vs. USD 332 mln of net income in the prior year's comparative period.

The gross loss amounted to USD 29 mln, USD 1.87 bln lower from the relevant period of the previous year.

In 9M 2019, total segment EBIT stood at USD –935 mln vs. USD 667 mln. The decrease was driven by a loss-making EBIT in the grain segment, which halved to USD 93 mln (USD 182 mln in 9M 2018). In the sugar segment, EBIT grew to USD 32 mln in the reporting period (USD –57 mln in the comparative period of 2018). Oilseeds EBIT declined to USD 262 mln (USD 106 mln in 1H 2018).

As a reminder, despite a slight annual decline, Dnipropetrovsk Oil Extraction PlantBunge subsidiary in Ukraine, remained the leader among the producers of refined sunflower oil in Ukraine for the fourth season in a row.
