Ukraine doubled its share in October wheat supply to Egypt

In October of the current year, Ukraine increased its share in wheat exports to Egypt from 8 to 20%, Zerno On-Line reports.

Although Russia remains the key grain supplier, its share has decreased substantially vs. 2018/19 from 82 to 54%.

At four tenders within October 2019, Egypt purchased 995 thou. t of milling wheat. This volume is 53% higher from October 2018 and is the largest procurement made by the country in the history of tenders.

"The record is set on the upward trend of world wheat prices, and, therefore, one can assume that Egypt, having the poor financial and economic situation, fears further prices growth," the message reads.

As a reminder, Egypt purchased two consignments of Ukrainian wheat grain at the tender.
