Ukraine's Feb 1-7 sea port staple grains shipment dropped 37 pct wk/wk

In the week of Feb. 1-7, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 772 thou. t, 37% lower from the previous week (1.23 mln t), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

Wheat export shipment dropped by 27% in the reporting period and amounted to 152 thou. t vs. the previous week's 207 thou. t. Barley shipment reduced by 55% wk/wk and totalled 14 thou. t, while corn exports fell by 39% to 606 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • Egypt — 117 thou. t;
  • Algeria — 104 thou. t;
  • South Korea — 103 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (11.99 mln t). The port of Chernomorsk provided for the transshipment of 8.05 mln t, and Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) — 7.01 mln t.

As a reminder, since the start of 2019/20, staple grains export from Ukraine has reached 37.14 mln t. As of Feb. 7, commodities shipment increased by 8.34 mln t from the comparative period of the previous year.
