Ukrainian amaranth products determined to enter new markets

In the current year, the Association of Amaranth and Amaranth Products Producers is set to expand sales channels for Ukrainian processed products, Kurkul.com reports with reference to Alexandr Duda, President of the Association.

"The Association's principal task for this year is to support the processed products' entry into the new markets, and the carryovers of commercial seeds as well to balance amaranth cultivation between processing and sales," said Alexandr Duda.

According to him, export is the key goal to focus the Association's efforts on since Ukraine has competitive advantages in the world amaranth market.

"Amaranth oil, flour and cake are now exported, accounting for 80% of all amaranth exports from the country. Ukraine can also export amaranth groats, flakes, herbal granules, candies and pasta. At present, I consider amaranth whole-grain flour, cereals and flakes to be promising export products," said the Association President.

In Ukraine, two manufacturers are planning to start producing whole-grain amaranth flour.
