Test weight of new harvest milling wheat defined high despite poor expectations

In contrast to the low expectations of agrarian market participants regarding the quality of new harvest wheat at the beginning of the season, grain has high test weight indicators, stated Rodion Rybchinsky, the head of the Association Millers of Ukraine, the APK-Inform consultancy writes.

"High test weight of milling wheat of 2020 harvest is observed in Ukraine: the average value is about 790 g/l. Of course, there are local problems, but the overall situation with the quality of Ukrainian milling wheat is good. The only paradoxical thing is that, probably, in the last 6-7 years, the quality of wheat in the western region, which traditionally yields higher and shows good quality, will be lower than in the central region," he explained.

According to the expert, this is determined by the unstable weather conditions, especially by the fact that the western regions experienced the most precipitation.
