Soybean oil production in Ukraine: major companies-producers in 2019/20

An MHP subsidiary, Katerynopilsky elevator, produced the largest volume of soybean oil in the 2019/20(September-August) season — the enterprise's market share made up 17.6%, the Association Ukroilprom reports.

Soybean production in the reporting period totalled 3.698 mln t, of which 1.2 mln t or 32.4% were processed at crushing facilities, 2.634 mln t or 71.2% were exported.

The three largest soybean oil producers in Ukraine by market share:

1. Katerynopilsky elevator (MHP): 17.6%
2. Globyno Processing Plant (Astarta-Kyiv): 16.6%
3. Transpostach: 15.8%

"Due to limited raw material resources, soybean oil and meal production in 2019/20 decreased YoY by 8.1% and 9.9%, respectively. Particularly significant production decline was observed in January-August 2020, respectively, by 14.6% and 16.8% YoY," the association specialists comment.

The association informed earlier that the production of basic types of unrefined vegetable oils in Ukraine in 2019/20 amounted to 6.33 mln t.

Previously reported that the FAO Vegetable Oil Price Index averaged 104.6 points in September, up 5.9 points (or 6.0%) from August and marking an eight-month high.

As of October 13, soybean harvesting in Ukraine stood at 1.7 mln t on 852.4 thou. ha, accounting for 64% of the planned areas.
