Ukraine's February sea port grain exports up 16% mth/mth

In the period February 1-28, sea ports of Ukraine shipped 3.2 mln t of staple grains for export, 16% more from January export volume (2.7 mln t as provided by the figures updated), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

Wheat shipment boosted by 20.8%, to 0.7 mln t in the reporting period, 127 thou. t more mth/mth. Barley export decreased by 24.1%, to 68.5 thou. t, 21.8 thou. t less mth/mth. Corn shipment intensified by 16.4% in February, to 2.4 mln t.

Key export markets for Ukrainian grain in February:

Egypt: 383.9 thou. t of wheat, 468.8 thou. t of corn
China: 63.6 thou. t of barley

Since the start of 2020/21, the port of Mykolaiv has provided for the transshipment of 11 mln t of ag commodities. The ports of Chernomorsk and Pivdenny handled 8.1 and 6 mln t, respectively.

As of March 15, grain export from Ukraine reached 33.41 mln t, 23% lower YoY.

As a reminder, the Ministry for the Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and grain market participants signed the Annex to the Memorandum of Understanding on Aug. 17, 2020, setting the limit for wheat export from Ukraine in the 2020/21 season at 17.5 mln t, rye at 1 thou. t. As of the reporting date, 79% of the agreed volume of wheat export was shipped.

Corn export cap in Ukraine was set at 24 mln t for the 2020/21 marketing season.
