Grain shipping by Dnieper slightly reduced, represents second largest commodity group

In January-April 2021, cargo transportation by the Dnieper river totalled 3.12 mln t, 27.7% or 1.2 mln t more YoY, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) reports.

There were 3465 voyages during the first four months of 2021, compared to 1694 in 2020 (+104.5%).

"The bulk of freight is construction cargo, with a 126% increase in transport volumes to 1.97 mln t. Grain cargo is the second-largest commodity group. The volume of transportation decreased by 2% YoY to 804.8 thou. t," the report reads.

NIBULON transported 4.14 mln t of cargo by inland waterways in 2020.

Since the start of 2020/21, Ukrainian sea ports have shipped 39.65 mln t of grains for export, 24% less YoY.
