Soybean export supply from Ukraine 45% down YoY in Jan-May

Soybean export shipment from Ukraine in the period January-May 2021 dropped by 45.55% YoY to 428.39 thou. t, the State Customs Service data show.

The dollar value of soybean exported is estimated at USD 232.94 mln, 15.25% down YoY (Jan-May 2020: USD 274.85 mln).

The largest importers of Ukrainian soybean in the reporting period:

  • Turkey: USD 62.44 mln, 114.85 thou. t or 26.81% of the total supply
  • Belarus: USD 39.74 mln, 73.08 thou. t, 17.06%
  • Italy: USD 32.34 mln, 59.46 thou. t, 13.88%
  • others: USD 98.42 mln, 181 thou. t, 42.25%

In the 2021 crop year, soybean was planted on 1.39 mln ha, 99% of the planned areas.

Soybean stocks in Ukraine as of June 1, dropped by 5% YoY to 411 thou. t.

In its June report, USDA forecasts the global soybean harvest in 2021/22 at 364.07 mln t, 24.65 mln t up from the May report.
