Wheat export from Ukraine in 2021/22 agreed at 25.3 mln t

Wheat export shipment from Ukraine in the 2021/22(July 2021-June 2022) season is limited to 25.3 mln t. As provided by the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Agrarian Ministry and grain market players, this volume is formed of all wheat classes (categories), the European Business Association (EBA) reports.
Wheat harvesting in Ukraine in the 2021 crop year was completed at 32.3 mln t on 7 mln ha. Wheat yielded 4.62 t/ha on average.
"This document is one of the instruments in securing the balance between domestic consumption of grains and export capacity. After all, stability and predictability is a priority for Ukraine and one of the main factors of national and food security," the EBA says in a statement.
For context, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the participants of the grain market in the 2021/22 marketing year was signed on July 5. The document outlines the mechanisms of coordination between the grain market participants, exchange of information on grain export potential, and monitoring of the grain market.
The Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA), one of the signatories of the MoU, estimated Ukraine's wheat export potential in 2021/22 at 26 mln t.
The USDA in its October report left unchanged the projection for Ukraine's wheat export in 2021/22 at 23.5 mln t. As of 18 October, wheat export shipment from Ukraine made up 10.7 mln t, 7% up YoY.
