Export of Ukrainian corn in 2017/18 MY will increase by 28%

According to the forecasts of analysts, in 2017/18 MY, Ukraine will export 21.3 million tons of corn to foreign markets, which is 28% more than the previous season.

This is reported by the analytical department of APK-Inform.

"Such export rates have become quite unexpected, as against the background of rainy weather during the harvesting period, significant losses of crop and deterioration of its quality were expected. But the exports were quite active, and in the second half of the season monthly volumes of supplies exceeded the figures of the previous season," said Andrey Kupchenko, analyst at APK-Inform Agency.

It is noted that the activation of exports became possible due to both the growth of supplies to traditional markets and the development of new ones. Thus, Egypt — a key importer of Ukrainian corn, increased the volume of purchases in October-July 2016/17 MY by 56% compared to the level in the previous season. Supplies to the Netherlands increased by 87%.

The report said that the export of maize to Iran increased by 3.2 times compared to the 2016/17 MY and amounted to 2.2 million tons.

Volumes of shipments to South Korea increased by 7.1 times.

Let us remind, that Ukraine since the beginning of 2017/18 MY as of September 13, 2017 exported 7.77 million tons of grain, which is 1 thousand tons less than in the same period last year.
