42 million tons of grain harvested in Ukraine
As of October 3, agrarians harvested 42.1 million tons of grain and leguminous crops from 10.9 million hectares (forecast — 14.6 million hectares).
This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.
Breakdown by crops:
- corn — 4.2 million tons, 1.0 million hectares harvested (22% of 4.5 million hectares), with the pruductivity of 4.18 t/ha;
- sunflower — 8.4 million tons, 4.4 million hectares harvested (75% of 5.9 million hectares), with the pruductivity of 1.9 t/ha;
- soybean — 1.9 million tons, 1 million hectares harvested (53% of 1.9 million hectares), with the pruductivity of 1.79 t/ha;
- sugar beet — 3.9 million tons, 93 thousand hectares harvested (29% of 318 thousand hectares), with the pruductivity of 42.3 tons/ha;
- buckwheat — 161 thousand tons,143 thousand hectares harvested (78% of 182 thousand hectares), with the pruductivity of 1.13 t/ha;
- millet — 73 thousand tons, 50 thousand hectares harvested (88% of 57 thousand hectares), with the productivity of 1.46 t/ha.
The sowing of winter crops for the harvest of 2018 was carried out on the area of 4.6 million hectares or 64% (forecasted area of 7.2 million hectares). In particular:
- winter wheat and triticale — 4.3 million hectares (69% of the forecast) with the prognosis of 6.1 million hectares;
- rye — 118 thousand hectares (73% to the forecast) with the prognosis of 161 thousand hectares;
- barley — 251 thousand hectares (27% of the forecast) with the prognosis of 926 thousand hectares;
- winter rapeseed — 801 thousand hectares (103% of the forecast) with the prognosis of 777 thousand hectares.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine from the beginning of 2017/18 MY as of October 4, 2017 exported 10.49 million tons of grain, which is 312 thousand tons less than for the same period last year.
