Ukrainian agrarians harvested 44 million tons of grains

In Ukraine, as of October 10, 43.7 million tons of grain and leguminous crops are harvested from 11.3 million hectares (78% out of 14.6 million hectares), with the productivity of 3.86 tons/ha.

This is reported by the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine:

  • millet — 74 thousand tons from the area of 51 thousand hectares (91% out of 56 thousand hectares), with a yield of 1.45 t/ha;
  • maize — 5.8 million tons from 1.4 million hectares (31% out of 4.5 million hectares), with a yield of 4.21 t/ha;
  • buckwheat — 170 thousand tons from 152 thousand hectares (83% out of 182 thousand hectares), with a yield of 1.12 t/ha;
  • sunflower — 9.3 million tons from 9 million hectares (82% out of 5.9 million hectares), with a yield of 1.91 t/ha;
  • soybean — 2.3 million tons from 1.2 million hectares (62% out of 2 million hectares), with a yield of 1.82 t/ha;
  • sugar beet — 5.4 million tons from 125 thousand hectares (39% out of 318 thousand hectares), with a yield of 42.9 t/ha.

Sowing of winter crops for grain for the harvest of 2018 is carried out on the area of 5.4 million hectares (75% out of 7.2 million hectares), including:

  • winter wheat and triticale — 4.9 million hectares (80% of the forecasted 6.1 million hectares);
  • rye — 127 thousand hectares (79% out of 161 thousand hectares);
  • barley — 420 thousand hectares (45% out of 926 thousand hectares).

Sowing of winter rape is carried out on the area of 816 thousand hectares (105% of the forecasted 777 thousand hectares).

In Ukraine in 2017/18 MY gross yield of corn will amount to 27.1 million tons, which is 3% less than in 2016/17 MY.
