Harvest of grain and leguminous crops in 2017 totaled 61.3 MT

In 2017, the harvest of grain and leguminous crops amounted to 61.3 million tons with the productivity of 4.23 tons/ha. The harvested area made up 14.5 million hectares.

The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine informs about the yield by crops as follows:

• wheat — 26.1 million tons with the productivity of 4.11 tons/ha, harvested area — 6.36 million hectares;
• corn — 24.1 million tons with the productivity of 5.44 tons/ha, harvested area — 4.43 million hectares;
• barley — 8.3 million tons with the productivity of 3.31 tons/ha, harvested area — 2.49 million hectares;
• rye — 506.8 thousand tons with the productivity of 2.97 tons/ha, harvested area — 170.5 thousand hectares;
• oats — 471.1 thousand tons with the productivity of 2.39 tons/ha, harvested area — 197.6 thousand hectares;
• buckwheat — 180.4 thousand tons with the productivity of 0.98 tons/ha, harvested area — 184.8 thousand hectares.

The agrarians of Vinnytsia (4.8 million tons), Odessa (4.2 million tons), Poltava (4.2 million tons) and Chernihiv (4 million tons) regions harvested the highest yields.

Reference: Ukraine since the beginning of MY 2017/18, as of January 31, 2018, exported 23.95 million tons of grain, which is 2.46 million tons less than over the same period last year.
