Nika-Tera started sunflower meal transshipment

On May 12, 2018, Sea Specialized Port Nika-Tera started the transshipment of sunflower meal.

Igor Gridnev, Operations Director of SSP Nika-Tera, noted that in May 2018 the port's cargo turnover amounted to 324.3 thou. tons, which is 35% more than in May 2017.

Meal transshipment is carried out at Freight Area No. 2 using the direct-variant method. The first shipment of produce is loaded onto the vessel Amir Bey for the company Ascet Shipping. The average rate of meal loading is 450 tons per hour.

According to Igor Gridnev, despite the overall decline in the volume of grain exports from Ukraine in MY 2017/18 (by 4 million tons or 11%) as compared with the previous MY2016/17, the company manages to maintain stable transshipment volumes of grains, legumes, oilseeds and processed products.

"Over the past few years, the market situation is rather unstable, so the port's strategy is primarily aimed at reducing the risks from cargo traffic losses. In order to maintain the transshipment volumes, the enterprise adapts to the market's demands as soon as possible, adjusting the range of cargoes in accordance with the existing demand. As a result, this approach to work has allowed Nika-Tera not only to expand the range of cargoes but also to increase the transshipment volumes," Igor Gridnev notes.
