Ukrainian seaports reduced grain shipments by 5 pct wk/wk
In the period from February 2 to February 8 of the current year, 886 thou. tons of main grain crops were exported from the Ukrainian seaports. This indicator is 5 pct less than the volume shipped in the prior period, the APK-Inform consultancy reports.
Wheat shipments decreased by 25 pct to 179 thou. tons, whereas corn supplies increased to 702 thou. tons vs 693 thou. tons a week earlier. In the reporting week, barley exports resumed and amounted to 4 thou. tons.
The largest volumes of main grains were delivered to Egypt (182 thou. tons), South Korea (134 thou. tons), and Germany (130 thou. tons).
Since the start of MY2018/19, the maximum volume of main grain crops was shipped from Mykolaiv (7.2 million tons), Chernomorsk (5.9 million tons) and Yuzhny seaports (5.2 million tons).
World grain utilization in 2018/19 is currently forecast by FAO at 2 657 million tons, up 45 million tons (1.7 pct) from 2017/18 and 8 million tons above the December forecast.
