Wheat exports from Ukrainian seaports dropped 2x

In the week of Sep. 28 – Oct. 4, staple grains shipment in Ukrainian seaports totalled 512 thou. t, 45% lower from the previous week (927 thou. t), the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

Wheat shipment in the reporting period dropped by more than 2x from 815 thou. t to 381 thou. t. Export of barley, on the contrary, increased to 56 thou. t vs. 44 thou. t in the previous week. Corn shipment increased by 10% to 76 thou. t.

The top three importers of grain in the past week are as followed:

  • Egypt — 94 thou. t;
  • Turkey — 67 thou. t;
  • Bangladesh — 60 thou. t.

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of staple grains since the start of 2019/20 is held by the port of Mykolaiv (5.24 mln t). The port of Pivdenny (former Yuzhny) provided for the transshipment of 2.98 mln t, and Chernomorsk — 2.82 mln t.

Since the start of 2019/20, Ukraine exported 14.25 mln t of staple crops. As of October 4th, commodities shipment increased 4.9 mln t (1.5x) from the prior year's comparative period.
