Ex-minister for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Tymofiy Mylovanov criticized the newly formed model of land market stating it is an imitation that does not solve any problems existing in the agricultural market.

According to him, under the conditions stipulated by the new version of the law, agricultural holdings will continue growing, the people will not receive a fair price for the land they own and the territorial communities will have less money in their budgets from taxes payment.

Tymofiy Mylovanov stressed that investments will be less than it could be, and the possibility of schemes of free privatization of state land will still be practised.

"The change in the format of the land market again throws Ukraine at least several years back," Tymofiy Mylovanov notes.

Currently, there is a shadow land market in Ukraine and people who work on the land are not protected from raiding, and most of the land cultivated is under-documented, so taxes are not paid to the budget, he concluded.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to support the draft law on the turnover of agricultural land on condition that the sale of state-owned land is excluded and land ownership per person is reduced.
