Over 150 thousand hectares of demined farmland brought back into production in Ukraine

More than 150,000 hectares of agricultural land surveyed, cleared or mined by sappers are already farmed, announced Yulia Svyrydenko, First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy.

"With the support of our partners, we are strengthening our mine action capabilities. Today, there are 51 certified operators in Ukraine. To speed up land clearance, the Government compensates farmers for demining costs," Svyrydenko added.

According to her, there are currently 137 applications for compensation for demining farmland with a total area of more than 17,000 hectares. In October, a conference on demining will be held in Switzerland, where Ukraine expects further support from its partners.
