Egypt to remain Ukraine’s No.2 wheat buyer in 2024/25 — ASAP Agri

Ukraine exported 1.9 million tons of wheat to Egypt from July through May of the 2024/25 marketing year, up from 1.6 million tons during the same period last season, according to ASAP Agri.

Egypt’s share in total Ukrainian wheat exports rose from 10% to 13% year-on-year.

In addition, nearly 200,000 tons of wheat were shipped to Egypt between June 1 and 22, meaning total exports in the 2024/25 season will exceed 2.1 million tons, compared to 1.7 million tons in the full 2023/24 season.

“With such volumes, Egypt will retain its position as the second-largest buyer of Ukrainian wheat,” analysts say.

As of June 20, demand prices for new-crop Ukrainian milling wheat with 11.5% protein stood at $235/ton CIF Egypt. At the same time last year, deals were reported at around $232/ton.
