Ukraine’s soybean processing seen up 35% y/y in 2024/25 — APK-Inform

In June 2025, crushers in Ukraine processed around 219,000 tons of soybeans — 10% less than in May, but still a record high for the month, according to APK-Inform.

The decline was mainly driven by stronger competition from South American soybean meal in the European market and falling prices, which affected the economic viability of processing. Nonetheless, EU demand for Ukrainian soybean meal remains strong, with price and quality being key factors.

Between September and June, Ukrainian processors handled 2.36 million tons of soybeans — 41% more than during the same period a year earlier, setting an all-time high for the sector. By the end of the 2024/25 marketing year, total processing is projected to reach 2.66 million tons, a 35% increase year-on-year.

However, processing volumes could decline by 12–14% in the 2025/26 season, dropping to around 2.3 million tons. This is due to a reduction in soybean acreage and growing interest in sunflower, which remains the top priority for many processors.
