Ukraine’s corn harvest lags far behind last year; yields in Kherson region lowest, Lviv region reaches 10 t/ha

As of October 16, growers in Ukraine harvested 4.9 million tons of corn, representing 15% of total projected areas, according to the Ministry of Economy. The average yield stands at 5.5 t/ha, with the highest results recorded in Lviv region (10 t/ha) and the lowest in Kherson (0.2 t/ha).

Analysts at Barva Invest note that harvesting remains slow due to rain, high moisture levels, and delayed crop maturity, prompting many producers to postpone harvesting. Last year by this date, 59% of corn areas had been threshed, yielding 13.2 million tons.

Barva Invest also reports that deliveries of Ukrainian corn to ports are delayed because of late harvesting and rainy weather, while prices at deep-sea ports (DAP) have rebounded to $206–208/t.
