NIBULON recoups $1 mln investment in digital twin of grain elevators in under a year

NIBULON has fully recouped its roughly $1 million investment in developing a digital twin of its grain elevators in under a year. The system was built on the IT-Enterprise ERP platform, according to a joint press release from the two companies cited by Interfax-Ukraine.

“The system helps reduce dependence on manual labour amid a labour shortage. Previously, 80–100 people worked at a single elevator, whereas now there are about 20–30,” the release said.

The introduction of the IT-Enterprise system has improved accounting accuracy and reduced grain losses by around 1%.

“We have enhanced quantitative and qualitative accounting and automated every stage of the process — from the moment the grain arrives at the elevator to its shipment to the end consumer, including the monitoring of grain quality indicators and the resources spent on processing,” said NIBULON’s IT Director, Mykola Riasko.

The company has also ensured transparent access to grain quality indicators determined by laboratory analysis. These data, along with other operational information, are now available through a mobile application.

According to the company, NIBULON integrated the digital twin across all 23 of its elevators in 2024.

“A digital twin is a digital replica of production that is updated in real time based on data from sensors and other sources. It enables efficient modelling of elevator operations and remote management of all processes from anywhere in the world,” explained IT-Enterprise CEO and founder, Oleh Shcherbatenko.
