Ukraine increases bioethanol exports by 12%: one producer accounts for a third of shipments

In 2025, Ukraine exported 111.2 thousand tons of bioethanol, up 11.9% compared to the previous year. The highest export intensity was recorded in February, March, and April, while the lowest volumes were observed in autumn — in September, October, and November, according to NaftoRynok.

On a quarterly basis, export volumes peaked in the first three months of the year, when 39 thousand tons of bioethanol were shipped abroad. Activity gradually declined in the second and third quarters, but export volumes began to partially recover toward the end of the year.

The vast majority of Ukrainian bioethanol — 96.2% — was supplied to European Union countries, with a smaller share exported to Switzerland. Lithuania remained the largest importer, accounting for 57.9% of total shipments. Overall, nine Ukrainian companies exported bioethanol in 2025.

The largest share of exports was provided by Persha Podilska Energy Company, which accounted for 32.7%. However, its shipments decreased by 5.8% compared to 2024.

Among the leading exporters, Westnol and Vitagro Bio Trade recorded the most significant growth, increasing shipments by 682.2% and 70.3%, respectively. Westnol’s sharp rise is attributed to the fact that the company entered the export market only at the end of 2024. The largest decline in exports was demonstrated by ETNL, which reduced volumes by 44.6% year-on-year.
