Ukraine exported beet sugar to five key markets in 1H of 2025/26

In the first half of the 2025/26 marketing year (September–February), Ukraine exported 270 thousand tons of sugar, according to data from the Ukrsugar association.

The main destinations for Ukrainian sugar exports during this period were:

• Lebanon — 29%
• Syria — 17%
• EU — 14%
• North Macedonia — 6%
• Mauritania — 5%

According to Ukrsugar, as of the end of February, the forecasted area under sugar beet in Ukraine stands at 170 thousand hectares. As a result, sugar production this year may decline by nearly a quarter to 1.3 million tons.
