Spring sowing campaign begins in Odesa region
The spring sowing campaign has started in Odesa oblast, with Tekom Agro Group beginning the sowing of lentils.
The 2026 sowing campaign was first launched by two farms of the company — Chornomorets and Agrofirm Pivdenna.
According to the company’s Deputy Head of Production, Serhii Shtyrbulov, more than 1,000 hectares of red lentils will be sown across four farms.
At Chornomorets, the first pass has already been completed, and the John Deere seeding complex has been calibrated to the required sowing depth.
“The temperature of +15°C allows us to start this year’s spring sowing campaign. There is still sufficient moisture in the soil, so we have begun. The field prepared for lentil sowing is well levelled. The previous crop was winter wheat. We are sowing the Canadian variety Maxim at a depth of 3 cm with a seeding rate of 110 kg/ha. We also apply Ammophos 11:52 fertilizer during sowing,” Shtyrbulov added.
In the Odesa district, the company is sowing lentils for the first time, allocating 300 hectares for the crop.
