Ukraine to export flour to China as both countries agree on rules
Ukraine and China have agreed on the rules for exporting wheat flour. The relevant protocol was signed by the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection and China’s General Administration of Customs, according to the Ministry of Economy.
The document defines how flour must be produced, inspected, and supplied to the Chinese market.
In particular, control will be exercised at all stages — from wheat cultivation to shipment of the finished product. The wheat must be grown in Ukraine, and the flour must be intended for human consumption.
Only those companies that pass inspections and obtain registration with the Chinese customs authorities will be allowed to export their products.
There are also labelling requirements: the packaging must indicate that the product is intended for export to China, as well as provide information about the manufacturer and the processing facility.
Before shipment, both the transport and the product itself will be inspected — it must be free of pests and impurities. Each batch will be accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate.
The Ministry of Economy notes that this opens up new opportunities for exporting Ukrainian value-added products and will help expand sales markets.
The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection added that the agreed document establishes clear rules that will enable stable supplies of Ukrainian flour to China.
