Ukraine’s rapeseed oil exports surge 30-fold in value

In the first quarter of 2026, Ukraine sharply increased rapeseed oil exports in value terms by more than 30 times compared to the same period last year, according to Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.

As the ministry noted, efforts to stimulate domestic processing are reducing raw material exports while increasing the share of processed products. In particular, in the soybean segment, processed products (meal and oil) showed a smaller decline than raw beans.

“In the rapeseed segment, the changes are even more striking: rapeseed oil exports increased more than 30-fold compared to the same period last year,” the statement said.

Overall, in January–March, Ukraine exported 15.5 million tons of agricultural products worth $6.3 billion, accounting for 62% of total exports. Physical volumes remained almost unchanged (+1.2% year-on-year), while export revenues rose by 8.3% (+$482 million).

At the same time, the export structure remains concentrated: the main revenue drivers are corn, sunflower oil, and wheat. Corn showed growth both in volume (+18%) and value (+17%), while wheat exports declined by 35% due to a strong harvest in EU countries.

Key export markets remain stable: the EU accounts for 49% of exports, MENA countries for 20%, and Turkey for 12%. At the same time, Turkey strengthened its position, increasing imports of Ukrainian agricultural products by $242 million.
