Ukraine could open more than 300 new export markets, with five countries in focus

Ukraine plans to intensify efforts to open new markets for agricultural exports and increase sales of higher value-added products, including poultry, pork, and processed foods. The issue was discussed during a meeting chaired by Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha.

Agricultural products already account for more than half of Ukraine’s exports, making the expansion of export geography one of the country’s key priorities. The priority markets include Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United States, and Vietnam.

To access these markets, Ukraine is working on harmonising veterinary and sanitary requirements, completing audits, and securing recognition of its quality control system. More than 300 export channels are currently under negotiation, ranging from certificate approvals to market access for specific products.

In 2025, Ukraine opened 19 new markets for agricultural products, while in 2026 the list expanded to include Algeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Georgia, and Vietnam.

Among the latest developments are the resumption of exports from Myronivska Poultry Farm to Saudi Arabia, the completion of a remote audit by the European Commission for heat-treated pork products, and the approval of an annual quota of 120,000 tons for poultry exports to the European Union.

The meeting also focused on expanding trade with Turkey, particularly in sugar supplies, as well as improving access for Ukrainian products to the markets of the European Union, Moldova, and the United Kingdom.
