Continental increased spring crop area this year due to weather conditions
Continental Farmers Group has successfully completed its 2026 spring sowing campaign, planting 110,500 hectares with spring crops, the company’s press service reported.
The agricultural holding said the increase in spring crop acreage compared to previous years was caused by severe weather conditions in late autumn 2025, which affected winter crop sowing acreage.
This season, Continental Farmers Group is cultivating:
- soybeans on 45,600 ha,
- corn on 37,000 ha,
- sunflower on 22,100 ha,
- potatoes on 2,100 ha,
- spring wheat on 1,900 ha,
- sugar beet on 1,800 ha.
At the same time, winter crops cover 70,500 hectares.
The company has already achieved 100% emergence for sunflower and sugar beet, while around 20% of corn has emerged, and the first soybean sprouts are expected shortly.
Continental Farmers Group also fully completed its planting plan for chip, table and seed potatoes, which remain a strategic business segment for the company.
“This spring required maximum operational speed from us. Due to the prolonged winter and cold March, we had rather narrow windows to begin sowing spring crops. Additional risks were created by the slow soil warming dynamics. However, thanks to the high level of preparation, proper understanding of all threats, and readiness to deliver results, the team coped with the task excellently,” said Kostiantyn Shytiuk, COO of Continental Farmers Group.
The agroholding is now moving to the next stage — active crop care, application of crop protection products, and preparation of grain elevators and harvesting equipment for the first wave of the harvest campaign.
