Kernel’s grain elevators receive over one million tons of farmers’ grain in a season for the first time

Kernel’s grain elevator network received more than 1 million tons of commercial grain in FY2026, marking the first time in the company’s history that it has reached this milestone.

The company said the record result was driven by a transformation of its business model, under which the elevator division was restructured from a service unit into a standalone commercial business.

As part of the transformation, the elevator network moved away from a closed corporate model and shifted to open competition for third-party farmers. The company revised its pricing policy to reflect market conditions, expanded its range of services, and strengthened cooperation between its elevator and commercial divisions.

Kernel digitalised the grain handling process — from the electronic queue system to grain intake and dispatch. According to the company, the digital solutions improve operational transparency and minimise the risk of manipulation.

“Today, farmers need more than just available storage capacity. They need guaranteed fast unloading, legally transparent terms, and predictable logistics. By changing our approach to partnerships and making our infrastructure available to a broader market, we have been able to attract record grain volumes. This season, we are investing in the stability of our customers: they will only bear the actual increase in electricity costs, while the company will absorb the rise in all other operating expenses,” said Serhii Shcherban, Head of Storage at Kernel.
