6.9 million hectares of winter crops sowed in Ukraine

As of November 7, sowing of winter crops for the harvest of 2018 is carried out on the area of 6.9 million hectares, which makes up 95% of the forecasted 7.2 million hectares.

Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reports that sowing of winter wheat and triticale is carried out on the area of 5.9 million hectares (96%), rye — 147 thousand hectares (93%), barley — 815 thousand hectares (88%).

Sowing of winter rapeseed is carried out on the area of 859 thousand hectares or 112% of the forecast.

Along with sowing campaign, harvesting of grain and leguminous crops continues. 53.7 million tons of grain are harvested from the area of 13.1 million hectares (90% of 14.6 million hectares), with the productivity of 4.08 tons per hectare.
