Arnika leads among Ukrainian organic agrocompanies

The agro-industrial group Arnika leads the rating of agro-companies engaged in organic farming in Ukraine.

Arnika cultivates about 20 thou. hectares, more than 15.77 thou. hectares of which already today are cultivated in accordance with the EU standard with no use of prohibited fertilizers and plant protection products. The certified organic land bank of the company is 6.3 thou. hectares, which is confirmed by certificates of compliance with standards equivalent to the provisions of EU-834/2007 and 889/2008, and Bio Suisse (Switzerland).

The organic crop rotation of Arnika is represented by soybean, corn, chickpeas, wheat, lentils, flax and technical hemp.

"Arnika's approach is to transpose organic technology within the framework of large-scale production. The current land bank of the company is about 20 thou. hectares. The plan for organic production is set until 2020. By that time, 100% of the agro-industrial group will be engaged in this production. And I'm convinced that Ukraine has all the prospects to become a leading player in the world market. But at the same time it is important to work on a technology that will allow organic products to be brought closer to conventional prices," says Andrei Pylypchenko, the founder of Arnika.

The top three organic companies are as follows:

  1. Arnika — 15.77 thou. ha;
  2. Galeks-Agro — 8.8 thou. ha;
  3. Agroekologia — 7.5 thou. ha.
