President Poroshenko participated in commissioning the first start-up facility at M.V. Cargo terminal

On June 1, 2018, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko opened the first start-up facility of Cargill and M.V. Cargo grain terminal in Yuzhny sea trading port (Odessa region), Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"This terminal is not only the largest investment project of the country in the last two years, but it is also an example of state-private partnership. The State, represented by the Ministry of Infrastructure, undertook the commitment to carry out the dredging, without which no vessel would enter here," stressed co-owner and CEO of TIS Andrey Stavnitser.

He also noted that the project will be fully operational in autumn this year.

Petro Poroshenko accepted the first car with grain at the launch of the first phase of the terminal.

"I am pleased that today I can take part in the opening of a very important stage of this project, in which TIS, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, and the state take part," the President noted.

According to him, the project "will greatly increase the competitiveness of the Ukrainian agrarian sector, will make investments in Ukraine in any sphere more attractive, for example in port infrastructure, engineering, or shipbuilding."

Petro Poroshenko considers the development of Ukraine's port infrastructure as a matter of national security.

Previously it was reported that Cargill and M.V. Cargo terminal planned to transship 1 million tons of grain by the end of 2018.

Note: the design capacity of Cargill and M.V. Cargo terminal in Yuzhny is 5 million tons of grain a year. The total amount of investment in construction is estimated at USD 150 mln.
