Sunflower oil production 2018/19 in Ukraine up 12%
In MY2018/19, Ukraine may regain sunflower production and processing volume to the level of 2016/17 season. This was informed by Julia Ivanitskaya, the oil markets analyst at APK-Inform, AgroTimes informs.
The production of sunflower oil in the current season is estimated at 6.4 million tons, which is 12% more than in MY2017/18.
5.9 million tons of Ukrainian sunflower oil may be exported to the world market, that is 11% more than in the previous season. Thus, exports have a chance to exceed the record of 2016/17 — 5.85 million tons.
The production and export of sunflower meal/cake should reach 5.7 million tons (+9%) and 4.7 million tons (+12%), respectively.
“However, the growth of the oilseed bulk yield is a signal for lower prices. In addition, pressure on the sunflower market leads to a decrease in world prices for soybeans and vegetable oils,” noted Julia Ivanitskaya.
In MY2017/18, Ukraine produced 5.2 million tons of sunflower meal and cake, of which 4.2 million tons were exported.
