The global wheat utilization outpaced the production first in six years
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) estimates the world wheat harvest in MY2018/19 at 734 million tons, or almost 30 million tons less than the previous season, Elevatorist.com reports with reference to Top Agrar Online.
“Thus, for the first time in six years, consumption rate exceeded the production, which is estimated this season at 746 million tons. Accordingly, by the end of MY2018/19, world wheat reserves will decrease to 267 million tons,” the message said.
The major world suppliers of wheat in 2018/19 are Russia providing 35 million tons, the USA — 29 million tons, and Canada — 24 million tons.
