Grain shipments dropped 33 pct

In the period from February 9 to February 15, 877 thou. tons of main grain crops were exported from the Ukrainian seaports. This indicator is 33 pct less than the volume shipped in the prior year's comparative period — 1.31 million tons, the APK-Inform consultancy reports.

The decrease in the total export of grain crops is a result of a reduction in the volume of wheat transshipment by 38 pct which amounted to 162 thou. tons, and corn — by 31 pct to 715 thou. tons.

It is noted that barley was not shipped in the indicated period.

The top-3 importers are the Netherlands (176 thou. tons), China (127 thou. tons) and Egypt (107 thou. tons).

The leading position in terms of the transshipment volume of main crops in the current marketing year is held by the port of Mykolaiv (7.4 million tons). The ports of Chernomorsk and Yuzhny provided the transshipment of 6.2 million tons and 5.6 million tons, respectively.

Previously it was reported that Ukraine preserved the position of one of the key world producers and exporters of grain.
